Why does your product work and how?
Very simply, the hub pilots DO NOT center your wheel. With hub piloted wheels, gravity causes the weight of the wheel to rest on the upper pilots leaving a gap in the bottom pilots. Even the smallest gap produces an egg shaped motion upon rotation. This creates rolling resistance in the tires which creates vibration and erratic tire wear. Our products utilize the studs to center the wheel, bypassing the hub pilot. It is a very simple product, but produces very effective results.

Do the TRu-BALANCE products actually balance the wheel?
No, we do not balance wheels like other products on the market. TRU-BALANCE products re-center the wheel giving you a "balanced ride" for an overall smooth, “riding on air” feel.

What product is best for me?
If you are a single truck owner, we suggest the complete kit. One kit will do an entire truck (all of the axles). Our kits come in any configuration. If you don't see yours listed call us and we will put one together for you. The kit can also be transferred to another unit if you purchase another truck, if the new unit has the same specifications.

Will your product work with wheel balancers? I have a set on my unit.
Yes. Our products work great with all balancers and actually helps the balancers performance. TRU-BALANCE believes if you have a set on your truck, continue using them. However, you will have to enlarge three of the holes if you install internal sleeves on the steers and if you install external sleeves on the drives. Call us for complete instructions.

I am running the new super single drive tires (Michelin X-1). What's my best solution to help towards better wear and do you have product for this new system?

I have a drive axle wheel seal leaking problem. I believe it is caused by my drive tires & wheels not being centered to the hub properly. Could the vibration be causing the failure?
Yes. Our products put you back on center, possibly helping solve this situation.

I installed a new set of drive re-cap tires on my truck & now I have a bad vibration problem. Will your sleeves help reduce my vibration problem?
In 90 % of the cases yes. Remember if you have mis-matched casings that are slightly off in diameter, this could be causing your vibration issue.

What is the brake drum spacer? What is Solution B?
Most trucks have a universal brake drum on the steer axle. When you remove the tire and wheel you will notice the drum clocked to one side (off center). The benefit of our Solution B is it will center the drum and the wheel at the same time.

What is the benefit of Solution C, the external sleeve?
With all the sleeve sets, you know your truck tires and wheels can never move on the hub when you are driving on rough road conditions. You never have to worry about any movement which means you are always centered. Other benefits would be any tire repair on the road. With the sleeves the product is already on the truck. Any repair facility should be able to fix the tire using the existing sleeves. Plus the external sleeves greatly reduce the risk of "wheel off" conditions.[ top ]
Do you have something for my GMC 5500 and 6500 model truck. It has smaller tires and wheels?
Yes. Your truck has 20 mm size studs. We have a pin set to help align your tire and wheel to your hub.

Do you have different length pins?
Yes. We have our standard and our extended lengths. The extended will cover all steer and drive axles. If you are running a 16 to 18 thousand pound steer axle you will need to purchase the extended pin set because the studs are longer.

I am confused. Do Solutions B & C stay on the truck?
Yes. We came up with the different solutions because of the various types of problems we see in the industry and because our customers have asked us to help them solve the same problem you are seeing in your application. Please call your TRU-BALANCE dealer for assistance in choosing which product is right for you.

I purchased a set of pins and the pins will not go in some of the holes.
Depending on the age of your wheel, you might have a build up of corrosion from salt and road grime. Our solution is to use our wire brush to clean out the wheel holes before installing.

Why should I buy the sleeves instead of the pin set? One pin set will do a lot of trucks, whereas a sleeve set will only do one truck. It seems much more expensive.
If you are going to carry the pin set with you, the pins are a good way to go. If you have several trucks the sleeves sets are a good option. Rough roads can move the wheels out of position or if you run into any tire repairs the sleeves are always on the truck. If you use the pin set to center and if you don't have the pin set in your possession you will not be able to re-center the wheels without them. On the other hand, if you are using the sleeves, they will always re-center the wheel.

When you install Solution B or C do you do all wheel lug holes?
No, Solution B & C use only three sleeves per wheel placed at the 12, 4 & 8 o’clock positions. This creates a triangle plane upon rotation which maintains center at all times.

When I order a set how many do I get?
One set will do one axle. A set consists of six pieces. Three for the right side & three for the left side.
